With OC-N Service, you’ll get the most reliable and survivable customized-network solution for businesses that require transmittal of information between two locations. Traffic such as voice, video, data and other IP advanced applications can be multiplexed from one business site to another and placed on a fiber-optic network platform for connectivity. Its ease of maintenance and support make OC-N a practical solution for grooming traffic for a more efficient use of facilities, thus eliminating inefficient techniques at a reduced cost.
OC-N Service provides optical fiber connections between:
- One customer location and an AT&T Central Office, or
- Two customer locations via an AT&T Central Office
At the four optical levels:
- OC-3/OC-3c provides channels operating at the terminating bit rate of 155.52 Mbps
- OC-12/OC-12c provides channels operating at the terminating bit rate of 622.08 Mbps
- OC-48/OC-48c provides channels operating at the terminating bit rate of 2488.32 Mbps
- OC-192 provides channels operating at the terminating bit rate of 9953.28 Mbps

The survivability solution
SONET technology provides path-protection switching, enabling traffic to be rerouted from the primary path to the protected path within 50 milliseconds to assure 100 percent availability. With route survivability, where the working fiber pair and the protect fiber pair are routed along physically separate routes, you’re assured successful transmissions even in the event of a cable failure. You gain the highest reliability of transmission by using SONET.
